How World Medical Card Works

World Medical Card keeps your vital medical information in one place, on a secure app and a physical card, so doctors and first responders can understand it wherever you are in the world. Watch the short explainer to see how it works.

Four simple steps

  1. 1

Sign up and download the app

Create your membership online, then download the World Medical Card app from the App Store or Google Play.

  2. 2

    Add your medical information

Enter your diagnoses, medicines, allergies, vaccines and emergency contacts, and upload documents. They are coded to WHO standards (ICD-11 and ATC).

  3. 3

    Carry your card and app

Your physical card and secure app go with you every day, at home and abroad.

  4. 4

    Get the right care, anywhere

Doctors, pharmacists and first responders can read your information quickly, translated into over 100 languages.

"My World Medical Card proved to be a ‘must-have’ since leaving the UK"

"When travelling, I’m often asked for proof of medical insurance, and with the WMC app, I can instantly show my insurance details through the app or by scanning the QR code on my card. As an asthmatic, I store my inhaler prescription on my World Medical Card, so I can always present it if needed. Additionally, the app helps me locate the nearest pharmacy wherever I am, giving me peace of mind."

“The lack of information often steals valuable time ”
‍

“During 10 years as a practising MD on Gran Canaria, I have been reminded daily about patients’ need for medical certainty abroad.
The biggest problem has been people’s lack of health information. This lack of information often steals valuable time and increases the risk of mis-medication.”
